How to check character limits and byte limits

  1. Paste text to see characters, characters without whitespace, words and lines.
  2. Enter the required limit and choose characters or bytes. For bytes, select the encoding used by the destination.
  3. Review the remaining allowance and highlighted overflow, edit the original text and check again in the destination form.

Example: A가😀 has 3 displayed characters, 8 UTF-8 bytes and 8 UTF-16LE bytes. A alone takes 1 UTF-8 byte or 2 UTF-16LE bytes.

Accents, Korean characters and emoji can use more than one byte. Whitespace and line breaks count toward bytes. Sites using another encoding or counting method may report different totals.
